Bhagavad

Gita shloka VIII.1 Bhagavad
Gita Summary chapter VIII shloka 1 primarily deals with Lord Krishna satisfactorily
replying to the queries of King Arjuna. Unless and until Arjuna is satisfied and
inherently believes in what Lord Krishna has to say ... there was no point in
Krishna extolling the values of his sayings.
One believes the Sacred
Scriptures because spiritual gurus who definitely had a wider spectrum of spiritual
knowledge and thus are considered more experienced than us have written them.
Even if we have neither read or possess any Scripture of any religion yet we tend
to believe in whatever our elders had mentioned in them. Bhagavad

Bhagavad Gita Summary chapter VIII shloka 5 Lord Krishna extols the virtues of
an abiding faith in the system of God ... this faith when it reaches its climax
makes one see the absolute truth in its entirety ... it is then when one realizes
the true essence of self ... comes face-to-face with the Almighty God, the Creator
of the Cosmos. One
can pray to God as many times as possible ... yet maybe one remains farthest from
him ... why? It is not only the prayers that count but it is also the intensity
of the prayers, which count. Quality is more important than the quantity.
Normally
we remember God only when we encounter a difficulty ... in the times of harmony
we forget to remember God. A true bhakta remembers God all the time ... for him
praying to God in full sincerity and intensity ... asking for none is the true
essence of his prayers. One prays to God totally oblivious of the surrounding
circumstances ... not caring even for the basic necessities of life. It
is not very difficult to recognize a true bhakta from the common masses. Rama
Krishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana ... both were true followers of God. None
cared for anything else then the direct vision of God ... rather they dwelt in
the sweet memories of God all the time. Bhagavad

Bhagavad Gita Summary chapter VIII shloka 6 Lord Krishna emphasizes on the point
that it is our thought process that governs our destiny of life. People say one
is lucky ... God says, "None is lucky". It is merely the fruits of karma, which
everyone gets in this life. Even if the fruits pertain to earlier lives ... then
also we have no control over it whatsoever. Every
Jiva is imbibed with characteristics owing which one performs karma in the present
life. If our karma is to make a King out of us ... then, we shall become one unless
our karma in the present life does not go against it. The resultant karma at any
stage of life is governing and binding upon us. None can go against it. It is
beyond the prowess of a human being to counter the effects of the resultant karma.

Bhagavad Gita Summary chapter VIII shloka 7 Lord Krishna exhorts King Arjuna to
fight the war of Dharma with their cousins King Duryodhana. He emphasizes upon
the fact that it is not a fighting between relatives or human beings but it is
a fight between truthfulness and Adharma. As
King Duryodhana was not following the settled rules of the society there was no
other way than to fight him. King Arjuna could not accept this statement of Lord
Krishna and retorts that it would be totally unbecoming of him to be the cause
of murder of his innocent relatives. Bhagavad

Bhagavad
Gita shloka VIII.8In Bhagavad Gita
Summary chapter VIII shloka 8 Lord Krishna extols the virtues that are required
for one to cross the ocean of Samsara. Lord Krishna prevails upon the fact that
placing our full concentration on the Almighty God, the Creator of the Cosmos
after having gained control over the mind power one must exert himself day and
night to have a Darshan of the Almighty God in its entirety. This was the only
path by which one can attain a vision of the Almighty God.
